The University of Cumbria is launching an exciting new master’s programme entitled Literature, Romanticism, and the English Lake District at its Ambleside campus, with Harriet Martineau featuring several modules. For example, the module on British Romanticism and the Lake District module which will be looking at the Lake District literary context in the 1840s will use passages from Harriet Martineau’s Lake District writings e.g. her description of an elderly Wordsworth/on the death of John Wilson.  In addition, her regional guidebooks will be included in the module entitled Literary Tourism and the Regional Cultural Heritage Industry.
